A fun time celebrating the year with most of the office crew last night…
We missed not having a few others from the past year(s), but bringing along a new office pup helped to sub in, even opening a white elephant gift or two. (Still bummed my Nerf gun got stolen).
Now, we’re excited to shut things down now for the office, taking an extended few weeks off for the team to relax, slide around in the snow, and spend time with family and friends over the holidays. We hope you all get to as well.

Located in one of the most expensive counties in Colorado, Basalt Vista aims to address the affordable housing crisis for teachers and other essential workers in the Roaring Fork Valley in a sustainable way. The 27-home development consists of duplex and triplex units that are made net zero through the use of electrification, high-performance building envelopes, and on-site energy production. Spearheaded by @habitatroaringfork and designed by @2757designco, Basalt Vista is the first all-electric net zero community in rural Colorado.We've been sharing some of our favorite local net zero projects in support of Denver's plan to make all new buildings and homes net zero by 2030.

We were honored to have Governor Jared Polis at the Basalt Vista project last night. He was able to meet some of the homeowners and learn about all of the amazing things that this project is doing for our community. His departure line "this is a model for the state, and a model of the nation" was a great end to a great night!

The worst of Monday’s.
It’s weird to realize another transplant, a non-native, was drawn to the same place as you, and that you became friends- one of the very best friends you had- all because of the mountains. And then, on Saturday, those mountains took our friend Mike Goerne too soon.
We’ve long considered ourselves locals, at home here in Colorado. But true natives, they’ve experienced this more than us. Growing up in a place so beautiful and so dangerous, these things can happen when you’re out there. And if you’re here long enough, it will happen to you or someone you know- a friend, a loved one.
I shrugged that off, thinking we were hardened enough by our time here, but this is truly hard.
Mike, like many others, died enjoying this place we all love. Being the amazing athlete he was and working hard to get better, as he always did. He was tireless. His excitement for life unmatched only by the quality of his friendship. We’re grateful for our time together as friends, and even as a client. We’ll miss him and think of him often, in so many places, like so many others who knew him and were impacted by him.
The many fun times with Mike, Erica, and Brian. To the last time we hung out at the top of Willy’s.
