Each site is unique. Our site planning process can include working with you on site selection and analysis along with any approvals required. During an initial pre-design phase, we'll study your unique site attributes to best respond to solar access and proper orientation, as well as capturing views and privacy. 

How we design- from the location on the site, to the building forms and materials- is impacted by your climate and even the micro-climate of your project. Taking the lessons learned in our site study, we'll propose appropriate plan layouts, massing, and materials to best suit your climate and how you live. Incorporating passive and active heating / cooling strategies at a conceptual level and in a wholistic approach will reduce up front construction costs as well as operating costs, providing a more integrated and high-performing design.

Every place has its own character. Our diverse cultures provide many cues to connect to and learn by. From the traditional ways of building or "vernacular architecture", to historic and spiritual elements, these are the most important to living in and becoming part of a place. 

Whether describing an urban location with existing homes, buildings, and infrastructure; or a rural site with new construction, the built environment we create or vernacular cues we respond to provide further context- for blending into or sometimes contrasting against. 

For all of our custom projects, we can help identify and select contractors or potential prefab sources. We maintain involvement throughout the construction process, with roles varying per project / owner needs. If the right fit, we'll propose to build with our in house team- the simplest and most cost effective approach for the easiest design+build experience.
